Andrew Spencer Tracks Down the Pickpocket Who Stole His Wallet: ‘Identity Thief’
Storytime.
Bachelor Nation got to know Andrew Spencer on Season 17 of “The Bachelorette” and again on Seasons 8 and 10 of “Bachelor in Paradise,” where he fell in love with Alexe Godin.
Since their time on the show and winning $125,000, the couple has been enjoying life together traveling the world and keeping fans updated with their lives online.
This week, Andrew documented the wild journey of tracking down the pickpocket who stole his wallet, and he shared the story on social media.
Over a series of video posts called “Identity thief the documentary,” Andrew revealed that he got pickpocketed on a plane and shortly discovered the person who stole his wallet tried using one of his credit cards at a Zara in his town.
Immediately, Andrew jumped in a car and went to track the person down, filming the whole encounter.
The Bachelor Nation star then recognized the person and ran up to her, saying, “Yo! What’s up? I need my wallet.” The pickpocket tried to say she returned the wallet when she got off the plane.
Not buying it, Andrew responded, “That’s crap! I’m not stupid. Come on, now… Let’s solve this. I promise you, I will literally take out, I will give you $200. I just need my IDs, I just need my identification back.”
Seeming to have succeeded, he walked through the Zara with the pickpocket and found his credit cards, but not the rest of his wallet. He later learned she left the wallet and IDs on a train.
After putting out a call online for anyone who finds his wallet to please return it, Andrew revealed in the final part of the series that he got a text saying someone found it and dropped it off at another train stop.
He was able to successfully recover his entire wallet and shared that he ended up paying the woman who initially stole it $50, not $200, because “I don’t want to see anyone down and I think that blessing, that karma, came back to me.”
He ended the video with a note of encouragement, saying, “I don’t mean to be motivational in this moment, but when you persevere, when you dig deep and you believe — you truly believe — it can happen!!”
What a wild journey! We’re so glad Andrew was able to retrieve his entire wallet and that everything worked out in the end. That must’ve been such a nerve-wracking situation!
