Seeing Hannah Brown on ‘The Bachelor’ Was a ‘Complete Shock’ for Peter Weber
It wouldn’t be a proper episode (or season) of “The Bachelor” without a few unexpected twists, would it?
A special guest surprised Peter Weber on the season premiere Monday night: his ex-girlfriend, Hannah Brown. After all 30 women arrived at Bachelor Mansion, another limo pulled up in the driveway — and out came the Season 15 Bachelorette. Peter’s jaw dropped at her arrival, but she had a specific purpose for showing up unannounced.
After sharing a hug, Hannah handed something symbolic back to Peter. She said while returning the wing pin he gave her on her season, “When I heard you were going to be the Bachelor, I had mixed emotions. But when I stood where you are, you said you wanted to find your co-pilot and you gave me something. I want you to find that person, so I brought these back for you.”
Peter told Rachel Lindsay and Becca Kufrin on a new episode of “Bachelor Happy Hour” that he had an inkling Hannah would appear sometime in his season, just not that first night. He said, “That was a complete shock to me. Whether I should or shouldn’t have, I started getting a little more excited because I thought maybe she was coming to be one of the contestants. What else are you going to think in that moment when she’s walking up?”
Hannah played a bigger role later in the episode as the host of one of the first group dates, but that brought up other emotions for the pair. Peter explained that he went to talk to her backstage because “she was really emotional and stuff just floods back to me.”
He admitted to Rachel and Becca that he and Hannah had a productive conversation following their reunion on “After the Final Rose,” and he felt hopeful about potentially rekindling their relationship. “I thought, maybe this isn’t over yet and I still felt chemistry with her onstage,” he said. “I remember my family and I flew out to New York that night for a couple weeks for vacation and I was excited to pursue something. Then I watched the second night of ‘AFR’ with Tyler and she asked Tyler out, and I was like, what the hell? Right then, I was done and over it. Then I called her out on it. It broke my heart to see her in that way.”
Rachel asked the reason behind Hannah’s tears, and Peter said it pertained to some decisions she made on her season. He said, “She was expressing to me that she had been through an extremely difficult time because of how her relationship ended with Jed and how difficult being in this position is. Now I’ve seen it going through an entire season, and it’s insanely difficult. She was just being honest with me and admitted that she made the wrong decision.
Hannah wished Peter luck on social media on Monday before the season premiere. She posted a video from their hometown date and wrote, “Find your co-pilot. It’s your turn in the captain’s seat Bud. Enjoy the ride!”
