Synopsis

After a tearful exit on Emily Maynard’s season of “The Bachelorette,” Arie Luyendyk stepped away from the spotlight. Born in the Netherlands, Luyendyk and his family emigrated to the United States when he was just 3 years old. Son of famed Formula One racer Arie Luyendyk Sr., a two-time Indianapolis 500 winner, the younger Luyendyk followed in his father’s footsteps and a made a name for himself speeding his own way into the Indy 500. Arie’s journey as the 22nd Bachelor began at Bachelor Mansion, where he met 29 beautiful women, all excited for their turn to meet the “kissing bandit”! Throughout the journey, Arie and the women traveled to exciting locations in Lake Tahoe, Florida, Paris, and Tuscany, and were treated to surprise appearances from Rachel Zoe and musicians Connor Duermit, LANCO, Tenille Arts, and Pauline Paris.

After traveling to the hometowns of his final four women, Arie and his top three traveled to Peru for Fantasy Suites. There, Arie’s journey as the Bachelor ended when he proposed to Becca Kufrin, a 27-year-old publicist from Prior Lake, Minnesota.

Arie and Becca ended their relationship shortly after filming, as Arie wasn’t able to get over his feelings for Lauren Burnham, the 25-year-old tech sales rep from Virginia Beach, Virginia, whom he sent home right before proposals. Arie and Lauren soon reconciled and made their debut as a couple at “After the Final Rose,” where Arie dropped to one knee and proposed.
