Mike Johnson’s Inspirational Quote Will Boost Your Confidence
Bachelor Nation can always count on Mike Johnson for a confidence boost.
On Friday, “The Bachelorette” alum took to Instagram to share a “Facebook memory” quote that he posted exactly nine years ago. It read, “Confidence is like an Oil Rig.. With It you you [sic] can make millions without it you might as well shut down.” He captioned it on his Instagram Story, “Confidence & self love.”
Mike has spoken about both of these important topics on and off the show. He exuded confidence and was always poised, even in the most dramatic moments (i.e., Luke Parker telling everyone to “stay in your lane”).
The 31-year-old has a penchant for posting inspirational and uplifting quotes on social media. In August, he shared a video on Instagram about an encounter he had at Lollapalooza while hanging out with fellow “Bachelorette” cast member Dustin Kendrick. He said, “I was in Chicago this past weekend at Lollapalooza and this beautiful young lady came up to me and told me she wanted to try out for the show.”
She felt like she was “too tall” to be on the show, and Mike wanted to prove to her otherwise. He said, “What I told her and I’ll tell you guys is, love yourself. Don’t care what anyone else thinks. If you’re a good human being, or even if you’re not a good human being but you think you are a good human being, that’s what matters.”
His advice continued, “I don’t think I’m what has been perceived on ‘The Bachelorette,’ but who cares? I feel like I’m a pretty good human being and so are you. Happy Monday. I got wrinkles, I have dry-ass lips, my eyebrows aren’t perfect today. So just do you.”

If that doesn’t get you, then his “ultimate life goal” surely will. Rachel Lindsay interviewed him on an episode of “Bachelor Happy Hour” and he talked a lot about how it felt not being picked to be the next Bachelor, but he’s hopeful about finding love. Pilot Peter Weber got the gig as the Season 24 Bachelor instead.
He told Rachel, “My last relationship prior to going on the show was in 2015, and I got my heart broken, so I wanted to be in a relationship again. I’m trying to get married soon. I’m almost 32. I’ve got gray hair in my beard.”
Mike shared, “I’m trying to have kids one day. My ultimate goal in life is to build a tree house for my kids.”
On October 16, Mike urged his Instagram followers to smile more. He captioned a series of photos, “It's simple. Make someone else genuinely smile & you'll smile in return.”
In case anyone wants a smile like Mike’s, he told “Bachelor Nation” in July that the secret to his perfect pearly whites are charcoal toothpaste and a water flosser.
