Bachelor Nation Can't Get Enough of Champagnegate
It was the pop heard ’round the world. The bottle that launched a thousand tears. The powder keg in a feud brewing in Bachelor Mansion. It was, and continues to be, Champagnegate.
On Monday’s episode of “The Bachelor,” Kelsey revealed to some of her friends in the house that she had saved a bottle of champagne for a year “for a really special moment.” Since Kelsey couldn’t pop open the bottle on the first night, she brought it out for the second cocktail party.
She set up a little area with the bottle in a bucket and flutes on a silver tray to take Peter to later in the evening. After getting the décor organized, she returned to her spot on the couch outside and told everyone why she waited and what the bottle means to her.
“I’m a hopeless romantic. I love love,” Kelsey said in a confessional. “The bottle shows me and what I want. I want a husband. I want to have a family.”
Moments later, Hannah Ann and Peter happened upon Kelsey’s bottle of champagne and opened it. Whether or not Hannah Ann knew it was Kelsey’s remains a point of contention among “Bachelor” fans.
Kelsey ultimately had a new moment with Peter and champagne, but it didn’t exactly go as planned.
Kelsey’s reaction and her new feud with Hannah Ann spills over into Week 3 of the show, showing that Champagnegate is far from going flat.
