The Most Memorable Entrances on Clare Crawley's 'Bachelorette' Season Premiere
There’s no second chance at making a first impression, and the stakes are even higher when you’re in a bubble quarantining due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Clare and the 31 men who arrived the first night waited six months to make it to the La Quinta Resort & Club near Palm Springs, California. When they got there, it wasn’t immediately all hugs and close contact. Each person underwent COVID-19 testing and followed safety protocols until they got the green light to meet Clare.
Some men were so enthusiastic about introducing themselves to the Season 16 Bachelorette that they went above and beyond in their grand entrances. Clare said in a "Good Morning America" interview Tuesday that the men on her season "brought their A-game."
After seeing the episode, it’s clear what she meant.
Take a look at the list below, in order of arrival, to see which guys made the most memorable first impressions on Clare’s premiere of "The Bachelorette."
Ben
Ben kicked off the evening for Clare, as he was the first one out of the limo. He didn’t do anything over the top, such as arrive in a luxury car (we’ll get there), but he helped her stay grounded. He introduced himself and, while holding her hand, they took a deep breath together.
"I really needed that," Clare said afterwards.
Jordan M.
Jordan M. stands at a whopping 6-foot-8. He won best pickup line of the evening by pointing to himself and saying to Clare, "Just in case you’re thirsty, I got a tall drink of water."
Jason
Jason paid homage to Clare’s unforgettable entrance on Juan Pablo’s season of "The Bachelor." He strolled up with a fake baby belly and told her she "walked so elegantly holding your baby." Jason affirmed he would “carry the weight of this relationship.”
Kenny
Kenny said he isn’t a "suit guy," so instead of being uncomfortable the whole night in a button-down shirt, he opted for his own unique style. Kenny printed a shirt with Clare's dogs' faces on it.
He told her, "I know that your dogs are super important to you, and you probably wish that you had them here sniffing all the guys out. I’m not a suit guy, so I did this instead."
Clare’s dogs Honey and Elbie joined her at the resort for filming. Although Kenny didn’t receive Clare’s First Impression Rose, he definitely won Honey’s.
Tyler C.
Tyler C. drove his station wagon to the makeshift Bachelor Mansion and told Clare, "I packed up my entire life, crammed it in this station wagon, and brought it here for you."
Bennett
On the flip side of the station wagon, Harvard-educated Bennett said he wanted to arrive in true Hollywood fashion, thus he got dropped off in a white Rolls-Royce.
Riley commented, "Bennett shows up in his Rolls-Royce and he’s all in that 007 vibe. That is a tough act to beat."
AJ
Upon meeting Clare for the first time, AJ told her that his friends often tell him he gives "terrible first impressions."
AJ squeezed Clare’s hand, but he held her just a little too hard, which caused Clare’s rings to dig into her finger.
Joe
Joe, the anesthesiologist from New York, acted like a superhero as he said, "Clare, I’m here to save your life — your love life."
Plus, he made her that origami game later in the evening!
Eazy
The legend of the salmon suit continues. Eazy arrived in style donning said suit and jumped through a banner that said "Your future husband."
After that, he said, "I used to play football and I want you to know you will always be my first-round draft pick."
Eazy also acted as something of a chorus throughout the evening. He commented on other men’s arrivals and made other funny comments.
For instance, he mused, "I didn’t bring snacks to the date. I thought we were here to meet Clare. Now it’s turning into a potluck."
Jay
Jay wins the "Most Dedicated" award of the season premiere, because he showed up in a straitjacket and didn’t take it off the whole evening.
Chasen
Chasen acted as the evening’s knight in shining armor, because that’s exactly how he arrived. Chasen quoted one of Clare’s interviews on "Good Morning America," saying, "I know you’re looking for a guy who’s going to be vulnerable, so I just shredded my armor for you."
She told "GMA" in March, "The most important thing is I want a man that will take off his armor. I want a man who is strong, but is willing to take off the body armor, open himself up and be vulnerable, and I think that is some serious strength right there."
Demar
Demar didn’t fully skydive into the first night, but he walked up with a parachute attached and said, "I want to let you know I may have fallen for you already."
Ed
Ed took the whole "being in a bubble" thing quite literally, because he rolled up, well, in a bubble.
Chris Harrison tweeted Tuesday night, "Apologies to Ed who arrived in a bubble ball. It was over 100 degrees and that driveway is longgg. Poor guy lost 10lbs."
Zach J.
Zach J. got down on one knee and brought out a whoopie cushion in a ring box...?
Dale
Dale introduced himself to Clare and gave her a giant bear hug. He didn’t do anything over the top when meeting her, but after he walked into the main cocktail party room, Clare said, "I knew it. I definitely feel like I just met my husband. I’m shaking."
Stay tuned for what’s to come this season on "The Bachelorette" and be sure to watch Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on ABC!
