Rachel Lindsay & Becca Kufrin Share Their Unfiltered Thoughts on New 'Bachelor' Cast
The cast for the landmark 25th season of “The Bachelor” was announced Friday — and former Bachelorettes Rachel Lindsay and Becca Kufrin have some thoughts about the women who are vying for Matt James’ heart.
On the latest episode of “Bachelor Happy Hour,” Rachel pointed out what she considers to be a “red flag” among many of the show’s incoming contestants. “From looking through these bios very briefly, it seems like a lot of people are looking for love for the first time!” she pointed out.

Becca then surmised that the ladies appearing on Matt’s season might have been inspired to apply for the show due to this year’s COVID-19 pandemic, which forced most of the world into extended self-isolation. (Season 25 was filmed inside of a coronavirus-free bubble at Farmington, Pennsylvania’s Nemacolin Woodlands Resort.)
“You know the phrase ‘cuffing season,’ where — pre-COVID and quarantine — people would cuff up during the winter months because they wanted somebody to snuggle with and keep them warm and Netflix-and-chill,” she explained. “And now I feel like the entire year is just cuffing season. That’s just what it is. That is what 2020 and, I’m sure, what early 2021 is going to be. So, yeah, timing is suspicious.”
However, Becca added that she understands why one would say yes to “The Bachelor” during these unprecedented times.
“Honestly, I was thinking about it. Like, if I was one of these girls, I would have said yes to doing it,” she said. “This is going to sound terrible, but no matter who the guy was, [I would do the show] just to look forward to something, to get out of the home, to have this new experience. So, I mean, I really don’t blame them.”
Although Rachel and Becca seemed skeptical about some of the women, they are greatly impressed with one contestant in particular: New York City-based professional ballerina Alicia.
“Not as a professional, but I danced ballet and it is not easy. She dances for a prestigious dance theater in Harlem, which I will say takes up a lot of time,” noted Becca. “To be a professional ballerina, she probably has not had much time for love in the past. So, I’m glad that she’s kind of stepping outside of all that she’s known to meet Matt.”
Added Rachel, “I like Alicia. She seems driven, dedicated. It takes a lot to be a ballerina and so I’m really interested in her. I wrote that she is already one of my faves. She’s a beautiful girl.”
