Tayshia Adams Finds Her 'Bachelorette' Happy Ending with Zac Clark
They did it! Tayshia Adams’ run as the Bachelorette ended Tuesday night with a romantic proposal from Zac Clark. Shortly after saying goodbye to Ben Smith, the Season 16 lead headed to the desert of Palm Springs, where she waited for the man who won her heart.
Upon meeting in the stunning arid locale, Zac launched into a touching speech, letting Tayshia know how much she means to him. “The first conversation we ever had by ‘our fountain,’ we talked about how everything happens for a reason,” he began. “And when I came here to the desert, I didn’t know what that reason was. But I do today. I came here because I was supposed to meet you. And I came here because I was supposed to fall in love with you.”
Zac then reflected on the highlights of his incredible journey with Tayshia. “From our first kiss to riding the Ferris wheel to meeting each other’s families, nothing has ever felt so right my entire life. You’ve helped me experience a love that I didn’t know existed and you’ve made me smile more than anyone has ever made me smile,” he said.
“I love you, Tayshia,” he continued. “I love you because you’re a fighter. I love you because you’re a strong, independent woman. You make everyone around you better. I love you because you believe in me. I love you because you’re a total dork. And I love you because you drive me absolutely wild. I love everything about you.”
The New York City-based addiction specialist then spoke about the significance of loyalty in his relationship with Tayshia. “I listened when you spoke about the importance of loyalty,” he said. “I promise to be loyal to you.”
Zac’s words moved Tayshia, prompting her to also speak about the most meaningful parts of their whirlwind romance.
“That first night when I got here, I was extremely excited for the possibility of finding love — but also very nervous and scared because I didn’t know if finding true love was possible,” said the Orange County, California, native, who took over Bachelorette duties after Clare Crawley and Dale Moss entered into an early engagement.
“When I first met you, I thought to myself, ‘He’s different. And that man is kind. He shows gratitude and has the biggest smile. He was been through a lot but has never given up, but also has learned how to read me better than anyone really has — and knows how to comfort me when I’m down,’” Tayshia recalled. “And there was one point in my life where I thought I would never get married because of all the pain and all the heartbreak that I’ve been through. And I hit absolute rock bottom.”
Overwhelmed by her own tears, Tayshia paused for a moment before continuing. “And I know that I told you that I love you, but — sorry — it’s more than that. It’s this wild, wild love that I have tried to come up with so many reasons to not believe in,” she said. “And you have truly shown me that there doesn’t need to be flaws, and that I deserve a love with a man who won’t run away. You have truly woken up my heart. And yes, it is real, and I feel it too.”
Tayshia then brought up some of her best “Bachelorette” moments with Zac, including the time they jumped into a fountain and passionately kissed each other. “I want to make more traditions and jump into fountains all over the world with you. I’m ready to hail a taxi,” she said, referencing the Big Apple-themed Hometown Date she had with Zac. “I’m ready to start a life with you.”
She added, “But also, I love you, Zac Clark. And I’ll do absolutely anything to keep that huge smile on your face, because you do everything to keep a huge smile on mine.”
Zac was a clear front-runner throughout this season of “The Bachelorette.” He and Tayshia bonded over their shared experience of being married and divorced at a young age. Their connection grew even deeper after Zac bravely opened up to Tayshia about his battle with substance abuse and the pain his family suffered during his path to recovery.
“The night of my Hometown, when we walked in and my parents got to see that smile on my face, you gave them the best gift you could give them. They haven’t seen me that happy in years,” Zac said. “You did that. And that’s when I knew. That’s when they knew.”
Zac then prepared to pop the question. “The other night when we were talking, you spoke about that idea of someone choosing you. I can’t picture another day, another moment without you in my life. And if you’ll let me, I’m going to choose you right now, I’m going to choose you tomorrow morning, I’m going to choose you next week and next year. And I’m going to choose you forever, because I love you,” he said, getting down on one knee. “Marry me.”
Tayshia responded emphatically, “Yes, a thousand times yes!”
The pair then embraced before dancing together in the desert. “I love you!” Tayshia exclaimed. “We did it. It’s us. Me and you, we did it!”
But there was one more thing. “Zac, will you accept this rose?” she asked, to which he said, “Absolutely!”
Congrats to the happy couple! Relive Zac's proposal to Tayshia below.
