Caila Quinn Shares Greatest Lessons She's Learned About Love Ahead of Valentine's Day
As a beloved alum of the Bachelor franchise, Caila Quinn knows a thing or two about romance.
In anticipation of Valentine’s Day, the gorgeous lifestyle blogger headed over to Instagram on Thursday to share the greatest love lessons she’s learned from her relationship with fiancé Nick Burrello.
“In healthy relationships both partners have a sense of independence while they are ‘together’ as a couple,” she began. “You can’t rely on the other person for your happiness, their love should just enhance your happiness.”
Caila went on to explain that a “healthy relationship” should involve concerted efforts to “make your partner feel heard and understood at least once a day.” She elaborated, “Yes, that means asking how their day was & genuinely listening to them complain about their boss for the 100th time.”
The New York City resident went on to say that the “key to healthy communication” is consistent transparency. According to Caila, it is important to dictate in “black and white terms what your needs and expectations are.” She added, “Guys can’t read your mind.”
Caila then provided an example of how to incorporate her final piece of advice into one’s own dating life.
“If your expectations are that he plans something for Valentine’s Day, in a sweet and calm way tell him 2 weeks before, ‘It would mean a lot if you at least planned dinner on Valentine’s Day. That would make me feel special,’” she suggested. “Then you’ve clearly communicated your wishes in black and white, then affirm his thoughtful efforts with positive reinforcement so he’ll want to do sweet things more.”

Caila’s post comes two weeks after revealing that she had already started writing her wedding vows to Nick before they plan to tie the knot in May.
The couple — who celebrated their “engagement-versary” on January 4 — have hit a few bumps on their road to becoming husband and wife. Caila and Nick had big plans for their nuptials until the coronavirus pandemic forced them to readjust. They initially planned on having two ceremonies in May 2021 — one in her home state of Ohio with 200 family members and friends, and a smaller, more “intimate” ceremony in Lake Como, Italy, with 60 people.
In October, Caila posted on her blog that she and Nick decided to cancel their wedding. She later told “The Knot” that they are keeping their original date of May 29, but will exchange vows in Sarasota, Florida, instead.
Last month, Caila responded to an Instagram follower who asked if she and Nick were still moving forward with their spring wedding even as COVID-19 cases continue to increase across the country.
“For Nick and I, we just want to get married at this point. Even though our wedding ceremony and reception venues are both outside, at this moment they have a cap of 100 guests due to COVID,” she wrote.
“We consult with our wedding planner [NK Productions] all of the time and she eases our worries. But it is important to manage your expectations,” Caila added. “We are praying that the vaccine rolls out as quickly as possible and that more people can safely gather leading to that guest count to go up.”
Caila — who began dating Nick in 2017 — noted that she is thrilled to marry the businessman this year despite the current health crisis.
“No matter what, we are excited to move forward with our May 2021 wedding and are just feeling grateful to at least have 100 loved ones present — even with masks!” she concluded. “Life is too short as it is. I’m not going to wait on everything to be perfect.”
