Arie Luyendyk Jr. & Lauren Burnham Detail Challenging Journey to Getting Pregnant with Twins
Pregnant Lauren Burnham and husband Arie Luyendyk Jr., who are expecting twins, took the “wrong approach” to trying to conceive again after suffering a miscarriage in May 2020.
In a new YouTube video, released Monday, the beloved Bachelor Nation couple — who already share daughter Alessi, 20 months — detailed their challenging experience.
“In the beginning, we were just like, ‘Let’s just have sex every day.’ It started out so fun, and then every day seemed like a high fertility day,” the former Bachelor explained of his wife’s ovulation tracking. “It was, like, 18 days in a row. I was like, ‘This is impossible!’”
Lauren went on to say that Arie soon became burned out. “My doctor was like, ‘Yo, you need to calm down. Arie needs to recharge,’” the future mom of three said. “We were doing high fertility days every day and as soon as we got to peak fertility, I was like, ‘Oh, my gosh, we have 12 hours. Let’s go!’ Arie was like, ‘No. I’m not on board for this. I’m worn out. This is just not fun anymore. Count me out.’”
The Shades of Rose designer elaborated, “That month was a throwaway month, and I was depressed at the end of the month [when my pregnancy] test was negative. Not the right approach.”
Lauren recently told Us Weekly that there came a point when she stopped telling Arie about the results of her ovulation tests.
“Doing that was great because I learned what my cycle was, but it also stressed us out at the time,” she said. “After that, I was like, ‘All right, fine. I either need to stop using them or just not tell you about the results of the ovulation test.’ And that seemed to work a lot better for us.”
Arie and Lauren’s latest pregnancy updates come nearly one month after revealing the sexes of their twins — a baby boy and girl.
“Alessi is getting a baby BROTHER & a baby SISTER,” Lauren wrote on Instagram, at the time, sharing a photo of the proud parents and Alessi holding pink and blue balloons. “We couldn’t be more excited!”
In his own post, Arie expressed his excitement at welcoming a son and a daughter (who are expected to arrive in June). “BOY! GIRL! How did we get so lucky @laurenluyendyk?!” he enthused. “So excited to meet the @luyendyktwins.”
