Ben Higgins Pays Tribute to His Late Grandfather in Touching Post: 'A Superhero in My Mind'
Ben Higgins paid tribute to his late grandfather in an emotional Instagram post shared on Tuesday.
“Over the last few days I have been processing the loss of my grandpa,” the Season 20 Bachelor wrote alongside a slideshow of photos and videos featuring memories with his beloved family patriarch. “He was 95 years old when he passed last week. If he knew it or not I looked up to my grandpa in all that he did.”
Ben went on to say that his grandfather’s “approval and attention” meant a lot to him throughout his upbringing in Warsaw, Indiana.
“I admired him and watched carefully his every move,” the “Alone in Plain Sight” author elaborated. “He was a larger than life personality to all of us and he seemed to have an influence on everyone around him.”
Ben added that his grandfather’s unique personality continued to shine brightly even during his final moments on earth.
“He made people laugh, he told stories better than anyone I have ever met, and he had an appreciation for life that lasted him until his last days,” the “Almost Famous” podcast co-host wrote. “Until his last breath he was moving fast, taking risks, and making us all laugh along the way.”
Noting that his grandfather was a WWII veteran, Ben said that he “will forever be a type of superhero in my mind.”
“With a tear in my eye but a peace in my heart I say rest in love grandpa,” Ben wrote, later acknowledging that his grandfather won’t be able to watch him tie the knot with fiancée Jessica Clarke this November.
“You won’t see me get married but I promise you believe it or not it will happen and I am a very lucky guy,” he concluded. “From helping me harvest my first deer to teaching me how to build a fence I love you gramps.”
Sending our love to Ben and his family at this time. See his entire post below.
