'Bachelor Happy Hour': Celebrity Skin Care Guru Sonya Dakar Shares Her Top Tips for a Gorgeous Glow
Skin care guru Sonya Dakar stopped by “Bachelor Happy Hour” and shared her top tips for a gorgeous glow with co-hosts Rachel Lindsay and Becca Kufrin.
According to Sonya, there are three products everyone needs on their bathroom countertops. First on her list is a cleanser suited to your skin type.
“To wash your face with water is not enough. It’s good to refresh [your face] with water if you want to mist your skin, but not to wash any dirt. It’s not going to penetrate and break the dirt and the pollution, makeup, or whatever completely off,” she explained.
“It could be an oil wash. It could be mild, like a gel wash,” she continued. “One of the things you have to figure out is what will complement your skin.”
Also important is oil, said Sonya, who formulated the ever-popular Omega Oil from her eponymous skin care line 30 years ago.
“Use oil. Oil will soothe. My Omega Oil [is] the No. 1 oil in the world because the essential fatty acid can kill bacteria. The oil kills infection,” she said, adding that oil is especially useful “if you have a lesion open or if you have acne.”
Finally, Sonya emphasized the benefits of sunscreen, which can prevent fine lines, wrinkles, and more sun-related skin care issues. “It can protect you from cancer or any other kind of harm from the sun like aging or discoloration,” she noted.
Sonya also said that it’s crucial to never go to sleep with makeup on, to apply skin care products 30 minutes before bedtime, and to frequently change your pillowcases (which, by the way, should be polyester and not cotton, she said).
