Seasoned Globe-Trotter Lesley Murphy Shares Solid Tips for Traveling Solo
Seasoned globe-trotter Lesley Murphy stopped by “Bachelor Happy Hour” and chatted with Becca Kufrin and guest co-host Catherine Lowe about her love of travel.
During her interview, Lesley — who runs a popular travel blog called “The Road Les Traveled” — doled out solid tips for those interested in traveling solo.
According to the Bachelor Nation star, America’s national parks are a great place to start.
“[Glacier National Park] is still probably at the top of my list for a U.S.-based destination,” she said. “Montana is so hot right now because it is so beautiful outdoors. All the national parks are having a moment with [the COVID-19 pandemic] right now — especially because Americans can’t go too far outside the borders. So, I would say [go to] some kind of national park.”
Lesley then touted the benefits of traveling alone. “I think you are more apt to meet people by yourself than if you’re traveling with friends or family because you’re by yourself,” she said. “If you’re with a friend, you’re going to be talking amongst the two of you guys, so I think it’s a great jumping-off point to meet new people.”
The new mom — who welcomed daughter Nora with fiancé Alex Kavanagh on February 12 — then dished on some of her favorite international destinations, offering inspiration for post-pandemic vacation plans.
“I love Thailand. I love it because it has the mountains in the north and the beaches and the islands in the south. It has so much to offer, and you can do it on a budget or you can just blow it out of the park,” she said. “Southeast Asia, in general, is amazing. Vietnam is so good for food. It’s like the food mecca. It’s so beautiful. The people are so lovely.”
Lesley added, “Bali is just an easy one because I feel like it seems overrun with tourism but at the same time there are so many hidden gems that you can find, too. And again, you can do it on a budget or as expensive as you want. It has something for everyone.”
