Kenny King Reflects on His 'Bachelorette' Journey and Introducing Fans to His 'Amazing' Daughter Makenzi
When Kenny King appeared on “The Bachelorette” Season 13 in 2017, he had the rare opportunity to introduce Bachelor Nation to his beloved daughter, Makenzi.
While contestants are typically cut off from the outside world and have zero access to their phones while filming, the handsome wrestler was able to regularly check in with Makenzi via FaceTime. As viewers will recall, those heartfelt father-daughter conversations — which often turned Kenny into a ball of happy tears — were always a highlight.
In an exclusive interview with BachelorNation.com, Kenny revealed that “getting to show the world how amazing Makenzi is [on ‘The Bachelorette’]” is his proudest moment as a father. “She was a part of my journey on the show!”
After fans got to know Makenzi through Kenny’s iPhone screen during Season 13, she made an exciting appearance at the “Men Tell All” special — and adorably told her dad that she was “proud” of him for the way he conducted himself on the show.
“Watching her grow is my favorite part of fatherhood,” Kenny says of his role in Makenzi’s life. “Getting to observe her experiencing new things and conquer them is amazing.”
The franchise alum — who also starred on “Bachelor in Paradise” Season 5 — elaborated, “[Fatherhood] has changed my perspective. My focus used to be about myself and what I was going to do next. Now everything is about what can I do for us? How is this move I’m making going to affect her? It’s a whole mental shift.”
Elsewhere, Kenny called fatherhood “the most important job” he’s ever had. “It’s the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done,” he continued, adding that having the opportunity to raise Makenzi means “everything” to him.
