Wills Reid Opens Up About His Sobriety Journey: 'I Couldn't Be Prouder of Myself'
After one year of abstaining from alcohol, Wills Reid took to social media on Thursday to celebrate his “sobriety birthday” in an inspiring post.
“I’m happy to announce that it has been a full year of being sober,” the Bachelor Nation star proudly stated in an Instagram Reel. “It is what I’ve known as my sobriety birthday.”
The Los Angeles-based influencer — who fans fell in love with on “The Bachelorette” Season 14 and “Bachelor in Paradise” Season 6 — then elaborated on his decision to give up drinking.
“I decided to stop drinking a year ago because I really thought about what alcohol was bringing into my life versus what it was taking out,” he explained. “And I realized it was taking out more than it was bringing in.”
Wills noted that he “didn’t have a problem per se,” but was looking for a “change” in his lifestyle.
“I just wanted to feel better about myself internally and I don’t really miss it. I couldn’t be prouder of myself for doing a whole year,” he said. “I told myself that, after a year, that maybe I would go back or maybe for special occasions, but I don’t really miss it at all and I want to keep this thing going.”
Wills continued, “I really, really enjoy seeing different aspects of life in a sober lifestyle. I really enjoy it and I’m not stopping it, so if you have issues with sobriety or alcohol, just know that I stand with you.”
The handsome franchise star ended his video with an encouraging message for his followers.
“Just know that you don’t have to have a problem, it doesn’t have to be glaring or anything like that to make a change in your life, no matter what it is,” he said. “So, just remember that and take that little bit of advice and remember to be proud of yourself no matter what you do.”
Congrats, Wills! Check out his entire post below.
