Relive the Epic Moment Katie Thurston Told Thomas His 'Bachelor Audition' Was Over
She means business, Bachelor Nation!
As viewers witnessed on Monday night’s episode of “The Bachelorette,” Katie Thurston sent Thomas home after a blistering Rose Ceremony speech aimed at his aspirations to become the next Bachelor.
When Katie called Thomas’ name, his fellow suitors couldn’t believe their ears. Prior to the Rose Ceremony, the polarizing real estate broker incited major conflict by admitting he had thoughts about one day leading the franchise.
“What is going on? My jaw is on the floor,” a shocked Justin told the camera. “Like, is this actually happening?”
Meanwhile, Tre — who told Katie about Thomas’ admission during the night portion of a group date — added, “Seriously? I am literally in a state of shock at this point. Maybe this guy is a little bit better at manipulation than I thought he was.”
But when Thomas approached Katie, she stepped back and launched into a series of fiery remarks.
“You told me things I wanted to hear. But what I learned about you tonight is you’re selfish, unkind, and a liar,” she told Thomas, before pointing to the door. “Your Bachelor audition ends tonight — so get out.”
Katie then explained her decision in a confessional. “Thomas betrayed my trust. He manipulated my emotions,” she said. “You don’t get to use me as your stepping stone to whatever your goal is. Not here, not today, not tonight, not ever.”
Katie elaborated, “I’m looking for a husband, someone who’s here to be here for me, someone who came here wanting to fall in love. I’m not settling. I’m not going to give a rose to someone who I don’t see a future with. I’m looking forward to just better days. Week after week, all I’m saying is, ‘Be here for me. Be here for love. Be here for an engagement.’ If you’re not, then please just leave.”
Before toasting her remaining men, Katie offered a stern warning: “I really can’t emphasize enough how badly I need you to be here for the right reasons. Plain and simple.”
Later, Katie said that she felt “empowered” by letting Thomas go. “I can trust my gut and now I know that every decision I make is the right decision for me,” she said. “With Thomas, I just had this feeling that his intentions weren’t pure — and I didn’t know why.”
