‘Bachelor Happy Hour’: Riley Christian Addresses Brendan Morais’ Behavior in ‘Paradise’ and Reveals Whether They’ve Talked
Bachelor Nation stars Riley Christian and Brendan Morais were friends before they hit the “Bachelor in Paradise” beach this summer. The two met on Season 16 of “The Bachelorette” and kept in touch after their time on the show.
Despite this prior friendship, Riley had a lot to say when he stopped by “Bachelor Happy Hour” to discuss how Brendan handled his relationships with Pieper James and Natasha Parker.
Riley said, “I am just as surprised, shocked, and appalled as everybody else watching the show right now. I am texting people like, ‘What the hell am I watching?’”
The Bachelor Nation star noted that while the two were friends prior to “Paradise,” he wasn’t in on all the conversations Brendan was having away from the group.
“It just wasn’t in my face. When you see Brendan on the show having these conversations, they’re isolated conversations with Pieper. I think it finally came out that they were actually in a relationship on their one-on-one. I wasn’t privy to any of that,” Riley explained.
Riley said he understands “the outrage from fans” about Brendan withholding important information about his relationship with Pieper, but he was most disappointed with how Brendan spoke about Natasha.

The Bachelor Nation star explained that he holds his friends accountable, and said, “If I had been able to see even a fraction of the stuff that he had been saying, of course I would’ve been all over it. That is ridiculous the way that he was treating Natasha and the things that he was actually saying about her when she wasn’t around. I think that was one of the more disappointing things.”
When hosts Becca Kufrin and Tia Booth asked Riley whether he’s had a chance to speak to Brendan about everything that went down since the show aired, he revealed that he’s tried to contact him but hasn’t received a response.
“I have not talked to Brendan. I reached out multiple times — I believe it’s been four times — and I got no response back at all from Brendan. Surprising and a bit disappointing,” Riley said.
He said he likes to give his friends a chance to explain themselves but reiterated that he found Brendan’s behavior “terrible” and there was “no excuse for it.”
The “Paradise” star said that he hopes to hear back from Brendan soon so he can make a decision about whether to maintain their friendship going forward.
If they do talk and Brendan does apologize, Riley said he hopes it’s for the right reasons. “I am hoping that he apologizes and he’s not just doing it because he’s like ‘Oh man, I got caught and I’m not really sorry for my actions, I just want to get people off my back.’ I don’t think Brendan is that type of guy. I would like to think that he’s sincere.”
For now, Riley is giving him the benefit of the doubt.
He said, “People are on him, rightfully so, but the pressure is intense right now, and sometimes you do just need some time to yourself to think and make sure you have your head on straight.”
Brendan hasn’t spoken out much publicly since everything went down, but he did issue an apology to Natasha for an “insensitive” post that made light of the situation.
