Bachelor Nation stars Mari Pepin and Kenny Braasch found love and got engaged on the beaches of “Bachelor in Paradise,” but as fans saw, it wasn’t always smooth sailing for these two.

Mari and Kenny faced ups and downs early on in their relationship when Mari’s uncertainty led to Kenny exploring other relationships.

Eventually, they found their way back to each other, and everything they endured made them even more certain they had each found “the one.”

And now, the newly engaged couple is stopping by the “Talking It Out with Bachelor Nation” podcast to discuss the highs and lows of the relationship fans saw unfold in “Paradise” this summer.

Mari revealed that while it was challenging for her to watch Kenny seek out other relationships, it was actually beneficial for them to be certain about their future together.

“Seeing him explore other relationships was difficult. And it wasn’t so much that my thought process was ‘lose him to get him back.’ It was more so, ‘I want to be 100 percent sure.’ And if we’re both not seeing what else could be here, we don’t know,” Mari explained.

The Bachelor Nation star continued, “I didn’t want to think that this is my person, we’re leaving here together but have any regrets or what ifs, and I didn’t want him to have that either. And so while it was hard to see him with other people, I think it was the push that our relationship needed for both of us to feel that confirmation.”

Kenny added that the way Mari handled herself and carried herself through all their challenges made him “immediately able to envision my family loving her and all this stuff.”

The fiancés discussed how the obstacles they overcame would break some couples apart for good, but they’ve now learned they can get through anything.

Mari said, “For us to be able to overcome that and communicate through that and come out even better on the other side of it, was a signal to me that it could be great outside of ‘Paradise.’”

Kenny also added that after he went on dates with other cast members, like Tia, he felt “Mari was reciprocating back the feelings that I had from the beginning,” which made him confident in their decision to leave the beach together.

Now, these two couldn’t be more in love and have been spending a lot of time together since they left “Paradise.”
