Matt James’ ‘Dancing with the Stars’ Journey Comes to an End with Shocking Double Elimination
Former Bachelor Matt James has been hitting the ballroom on “Dancing with the Stars” for Season 30 of the fellow ABC show.
Matt is one of many Bachelor Nation stars who have competed for the Mirrorball Trophy, including winners Kaitlyn Bristowe, Hannah Brown, and Melissa Rycroft.
Other former Bachelors like Sean Lowe, Nick Viall, Jake Pavelka, and Chris Soules have also made it pretty far in the “DWTS” competition.
And while Matt won over the hearts of Bachelor Nation, his “Dancing with the stars” journey came to an end with a shocking double elimination during Disney week.
Matt soared through the first four weeks of the competition and gave two great performances for Disney heroes and villains.
For his heroes dance, Matt and his partner Lindsay Arnold performed the quickstep to “The Incredits” from the movie “The Incredibles.”
And for their villains dance, the duo danced the paso doble to “Jungle” by X Ambassadors and Jamie N Commons from the movie “The Jungle Book.”
Their combined score over both nights was 57/80, one of the lower scores of the week.
When it came time for eliminations, Brian Austin Green and pro Sharna Burgess were automatically eliminated first because they had the lowest score.
But there was a shocking double elimination this week that came down to Matt and “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Kenya Moore.
Matt received two votes from the judges and Kenya received one vote.
Because the vote was not unanimous, host Tyra Banks explained that lead judge Len Goodman got to make the final call.
“It will be up to the judges to save one of the bottom two couples and keep them in this competition. If the first three judges are divided, then Len, as our head judge, will cast the deciding vote,” Tyra said as fans nervously awaited the results.
It was at that moment that Len chose to save Kenya and her partner over Matt and Lindsay.
Bachelor Nation took to social media to share their shock, disappointment, and confusion over Matt’s elimination.
One fan wrote, “Trying to figure out your math. 2-1 vote doesn’t need a tie breaker. Bring @mattjames919 back #DWTS.”

And this person wrote, “What’s the point of having us vote if Len has the final say anyways??? That was not a tiebreaker! Len had no respect for Matt since the beginning and tonight it showed. #dwts.”

Either way, big congrats to Matt for making it as far as he did on “DWTS.” It was a blast to watch, and Bachelor Nation will get that Mirrorball Trophy back next time!
