Nayte Reveals His First Impression of Bachelorette Michelle Young & Her Other Suitors
Bachelor Nation fans met Nayte on last night’s season premiere of “The Bachelorette.” Nayte famously received Michelle Young’s First Impression Rose and stole the first kiss of the season.
And now, Nayte is stopping by “Bachelor Happy Hour” to discuss his first impression of Michelle and what he thought of the other guys on night one.
Nayte started off by talking about the toast Michelle gave at the beginning of night one as soon as all the men made their limo entrances.
The Austin, Texas, native said, “She talked about her family, and that was something that really stuck out to me. She said her parents have been together for 32 years and that’s goals, that’s beautiful. That’s what everybody aims for.”
While Nayte said that’s exactly what he was looking for, he was worried he wouldn’t be able to relate because his parents are divorced. He shared why it was brought up right away with Michelle.
Fans saw that conversation during last night’s episode, but on “Bachelor Happy Hour,” he went into more detail about why he was nervous to discuss his family with Michelle.
“That was one of the first things that we talked about. I just opened up about my family dynamic. I have such an amazing family, but happily ever after marriages weren’t a part of my growing up,” Nayte revealed.
He added, “It was definitely a little nerve-wracking, because she’s this family-oriented person and she has a perfect example from her parents and I didn’t have that. So it was intimidating at first and I just wanted to get it off my chest.”
And while he was initially nervous, he was grateful for how Michelle responded and accepted him for who he is.
Nayte noted, “Michelle has that quality that calms you down. She has a really calming presence. It was a really nice first conversation.”
And when it came to his first impression of the other guys, Nayte said that he was just so excited he wasn’t focused on the fact that it was a competition.
He said, “It was awesome. I love meeting people and I love making friends. Especially being the first guy out of the limo, you get to see literally every single person come down. They are great guys!”
Nayte said he immediately hit it off with Rodney on night one and that he loved Peter’s energy, and also noted that he didn’t have a negative impression of anyone right off the bat.
We can’t wait to see how the rest of Nayte and Michelle’s love story unfolds as we watch each week, but until then, check out Nayte’s entire conversation on “Bachelor Happy Hour” below.
