Jess Reveals Why She Felt ‘Misunderstood’ by Zach and How She Wishes Their Breakup Went Differently
Opening up.
Bachelor Nation fans got to know and love Jess on Season 27 of “The Bachelor” as she vied for Zach’s heart.
Jess was sent home heartbroken in Estonia after confronting Zach about her disappointment over not receiving a one-on-one date.
Now, Jess is stopping by the “Click Bait with Bachelor Nation” podcast and opening up about her emotional departure and revealing what she wishes had gone differently.
Jess told co-hosts Joe Amabile and Kelley Flanagan why she brought up the one-on-one date in the first place.
The Bachelor Nation star said, “It happened very quick. Throughout the whole journey, every conversation we had, he would reassure me and tell me how confident he was with me. We would have great conversations, so I would always leave walking away so happy.”

She continued, “When you’re in an environment where other women are going on dates with Zach and come back even stronger in their relationship with him, it’s hard [and] you’re just waiting for that feeling week by week and wanting to feel chosen by the man you want to potentially get engaged to.”
Jess went on, saying, “Going into Estonia, I was very hopeful that I was going to get that time with him, and when it didn’t happen, it was confusing. There were no actions following the words that he was telling me. Watching that conversation was just as confusing as it was in the moment. I felt very misunderstood and I was frustrated. Watching my exit, I wish I could have used that verbiage with him. I feel like I could’ve explained myself better, but I was going into that conversation anxious and confused and I wasn’t able to articulate myself in the best way.”
She shared that she felt misunderstood by Zach and that they might have been on two different pages about what a one-on-one date meant.

“At the end of the day, I think he was confused with what I meant by wanting a one-on-one. What I meant was quality time, but I think he was getting confused,” Jess explained.
“At the end of the day, if he was my person, he would’ve taken the time to help me articulate my feelings and get to a place where we could’ve both come to an understanding. It just felt like I was talking to a wall and he wasn’t listening to me. It felt like everything I was saying was just wrong.”
Joe chimed in saying that he wondered if Zach was getting in his head about what a one-on-one meant and maybe he was worried it meant she wanted more airtime.
Jess responded, “Who knows? I would hope that he knew my character by then to know that that wasn’t the case. I was always out of drama. Throughout the season, I was barely there because I was always in the background not getting involved. If that was the case, that hurts.”
