Celebrating Father’s Day!
Bachelor Nation stars Kevin Wendt and Astrid Loch met on Season 5 of “Bachelor in Paradise,” and the two welcomed their first child together in 2021.
Now as the couple is expecting their second baby via IVF, Kevin stopped by to chat with BachelorNation.com exclusively about Father’s Day and what it means to him to be a dad.
Check out Kevin’s full interview below!
Bachelor Nation: Happy Father’s Day, Kevin! What does being a dad mean to you?
Kevin Wendt: Thank you so much! Being a dad is truly my favorite thing I’ve ever done. Seeing Auggy change day by day and developing his own little personality is the best part.
BN: So sweet! What is your ideal way to celebrate Father’s Day?
KW: I am working a 24-hour shift at the fire hall on Father’s Day, so having the family come by for a visit is always a great day. Seeing Auggy on the fire truck and how happy he is seeing me at work is the best Father’s Day I could ask for.
BN: Oh my gosh, that is so cute! How has fatherhood changed you?
KW: Similar to getting married, I feel like my priorities have shifted. I will gladly give up anything to make my son’s day better. Nothing I can do for myself will bring me as much joy as seeing my wife and son happy.
BN: You are so lucky to have each other! What has surprised you most about fatherhood?
KW: Just how hard it really is! Kids need you all day every day for absolutely everything! But it’s pretty great feeling needed on the daily!
BN: Absolutely. Do you have any advice for fellow parents?
KW: Try and stay patient and present with them every day. Being a parent is hard work, and I am still learning so much every day on how to be a good one.
BN: That’s great advice! How do you think your kid would describe you as a dad?
KW: I would hope Auggy would describe me as a loving dad and someone who is always down to play!
BN: I’m sure he would! What is your favorite part of fatherhood?
KW: I love how much they need you at this young age. When August comes to me for help, as simple as opening his snack or putting on his shoes. It’s the best feeling.
BN: That is so sweet. As a dad, what do you hope your children learn from you?
KW: Work hard at everything you do, and respect and be kind to everyone you meet. Life works out if you stick to those principles.
BN: Those are some words of wisdom! What is your proudest moment as a dad?
KW: Every day, I am so proud of my son. He always seems to amaze me with how smart he is and how quick he picks up everything we teach him.
BN: It’s amazing watching him grow. What are you most looking forward to doing with your kids in the future?
KW: I am Canadian, so being a hockey dad has always been a dream of mine. Getting August on skates is something I am really looking forward to.
BN: Awww, that will be adorable! And last but not least, would you let your child watch your Bachelor Nation journey one day?
KW: Hmmm… I think it has to skip a generation, so maybe my grandkids one day!
BN: Love it! Happy Father’s Day again, Kevin. Sending your whole family love.
