This Week in Bachelor Nation History: Salley and Her Suitcase Finally Arrive in ‘Paradise’

Throwing it back!
As fans are watching Season 9 of “Bachelor in Paradise” unfold each week, we’re throwing it back to another iconic “Bachelor in Paradise” moment from Season 8 of the beloved show.
This week last year, Salley Carson finally showed up in “Paradise” after her suitcase famously arrived long before she did.
As fans recall, Salley’s arrival became highly anticipated and much discussed after rumors about missed flights and her ex-fiancé swept through the beach.
Salley left Clayton Echard’s season of “The Bachelor” when it got started because she was still healing from a broken engagement back home, but she assured host Jesse Palmer that she was “ready this time!” when it came to “Bachelor in Paradise.”
Upon arriving in “Paradise,” Salley went straight to chat with Justin Glaze, who she had kissed at Stagecoach earlier that year.
And while Salley’s night in “Paradise” started off strong, Genevieve Parisi brought up the rumors about her ex again, saying, “She still sees her ex. She saw him right before she came here. She’s FaceTiming him at the airport crying. She just lies, lies, lies.”
Shanae Ankey agreed, adding, “Salley is a liar. I don’t think she’s ready for a relationship and I just don’t trust her.”
So Shanae and Genevieve decided to confront Salley about her past relationship and whether she was truly over it.
Salley revealed that she had just seen her ex again days before filming because “I felt like I needed a conversation out of respect for him.”
And tensions started to escalate for Salley, who said, “If anyone here can’t understand that I have respect for the guy that I was with before this, then I’m out. It is what it is. And that’s exactly why you don’t trust anyone on this f--king beach. This is exactly why I didn’t get on three flights.”
Justin tried to comfort Salley and tell her to stay, but she was already feeling checked out.
Salley opened up to Justin, saying, “Dude, like, I cannot be here. I’m too real for this shit. They asked me if I had a conversation with my ex before I came here. I did. That pisses me off because they know how much I didn’t want my ex’s name or any of that situation brought into this, out of respect for him. So out of respect for him, I wanna leave.”
Shortly after, she took off her mic and got in the car to take her out of “Paradise” — and this time her suitcase left with her.
