Clare Crawley Discusses Nerves About Connecting with Baby After Surrogacy and Staying in Touch with Surrogate

In July, former Bachelorette Clare Crawley announced that she and her husband Ryan Dawkins are expecting their first child via surrogate.
Then in October, Clare revealed that she and Ryan are having a baby girl, and she’s been documenting the process of getting ready for their baby to arrive.
Now, the mom-to-be took to her Instagram Stories for a Q&A about all things future motherhood.
Clare started off answering a question that she said was asked “over 100 times just today.”
The question was “Are you worried about connecting with your baby?” since she’s having her baby girl via surrogate.
Clare responded, “This gets asked a lot, especially with surrogacy, but what I find interesting is fathers don’t give birth to their babies and nobody asks fathers this. They don’t give birth and they absolutely connect with their children.”
The former Bachelorette continued, “I think it depends on the individual versus if you gave birth, if you are a mother or a father, it depends on the person, not necessarily the situation or circumstance. So no, I’m not worried. I am already so connected to her and I just can't wait until she’s here. I was connected with her before she was even a twinkle in my eye, I was having dreams about her. I am not worried for one second.”
Clare also shared that she and Ryan will “absolutely” be there at the delivery day of their baby girl and she shared that they plan on keeping their surrogate a part of their lives after her daughter’s birth.
She said, “One hundred percent yes she will remain in our lives! We have always wanted our baby to know her as a part of the family and she wants the same. She has changed our lives in the best way possible and I have just such a deep love for her that goes way beyond the nine months.”
Clare recently had a visit with her surrogate and got to feel her baby kicking saying it was “just the greatest, words can’t explain.”
