Hannah Brown Says It's 'Okay to Be Vulnerable' During 2019 People's Choice Awards Speech
Hannah Brown’s favorite football team may have lost their big game on Saturday, but she made up for it with a big victory of her own on Sunday.
The Season 15 Bachelorette took home the top prize in the Competition Contestant category at the 2019 People’s Choice Awards. Hannah wasn’t the only Bachelor Nation member vying for the award, either. Colton Underwood and Tyler Cameron, two of her exes, were also nominated in the category.
Colton’s big breakout moment from his season of “The Bachelor” happened towards the end when he jumped over a fence in Portugal after Cassie Randolph broke up with him. Thankfully, for both “Bachelor” fans and fences around the world, he and Cassie are together and doing just fine. Tyler Cameron became a fan favorite during Hannah’s season of “The Bachelorette” thanks to his consistently calm demeanor and unwavering support for Hannah in her highest and lowest moments.
In her acceptance speech, Hannah thanked fans supporting her through a roller-coaster of a season. She said onstage, “Well, this is weird! Thank you all so much. This award means a lot to me, because it just affirms that it’s okay to be vulnerable and put your heart out there and people will receive and give that love back. Everyone who supported and loved me through this crazy, amazing year — how is this happening?”
She continued, “I was just a girl from Alabama, but thank you for allowing me to be that girl from Alabama and shine my light. This is awesome. Roll tide!”
Hannah had empowering moment after empowering moment during her season of “The Bachelorette,” like the time she told Luke not to shame her for having sex when she told the men to “stay in your lane” and focus on her. She got engaged to Jed Wyatt on the finale, but confirmed on “After the Final Rose” that they broke up.
The 25-year-old is now kicking butt on “Dancing with the Stars” and continues to be vulnerable and open about adjusting to life in Los Angeles and all the struggles that come with it.
Congratulations on the big win, Hannah!
