'Listen to Your Heart' Winners Chris & Bri on Recording Their Album in Quarantine
Quarantine and stay-at-home orders due to the coronavirus haven't made daily tasks any easier, least of all recording a debut album and navigating a new relationship!
Despite the extenuating circumstances, Chris Watson and Bri Stauss overcame the challenges and released 10 songs as part of their prize for winning the first season of "The Bachelor Presents: Listen to Your Heart." The eponymous album — "Bri and Chris" — dropped Monday evening after the show's finale. It features five original songs and the five covers they performed on the show, including "Lover" by Taylor Swift and "Give Me Love" by Ed Sheeran.
The happy couple chatted with Rachel Lindsay and Becca Kufrin on a new episode of "Bachelor Happy Hour" and discussed the process of writing their songs over FaceTime and overcoming time zones and global pandemics to do so.
Chris explained to Becca and Rachel that he and Bri spoke on the phone "five to 12 times a day," making it a "crash course into let's be in a relationship and do everything else together."
Bri described the process as nearly seamless because she and Chris are on the same page on so many aspects. She said, "It’s been very smooth and it’s weird that it’s been so smooth, especially as musicians and writing this album over FaceTime with delays. I recorded in a studio here and he recorded in a studio there and there’s been a lot going on at once."
She admitted there have been moments where they're "frustrated, but it’s never been with each other." Rather, it's "the situation as a whole" and being separated.
Chris added, "We started in January as single people and ended up in a four-year relationship. We’re friends, business partners, romantic partners, as well as musical partners. There’s been so much to work out and luckily, it’s been so seamless. It’s definitely because of the way we feel about each other and the potential we see in each other as well on all of those levels."
He went on, "We've seen each other grow throughout the show and even now. It's been the most beautiful, amazing thing to witness."
Fans of the couple can stream their entire album "Chris and Bri" which is out now! Plus, be sure to listen to the full "Bachelor Happy Hour" episode to hear what else they have to say about their time on the show and more.
