Get Ready to Relive 'Bachelor' & 'Bachelorette' Firsts with Alex Michel & Trista Rehn
Big suits, square sunglasses, flared jeans, and bright eyeshadow: What else screams early 2000s?
Get ready to revisit the beginning of the new millennium as Monday’s episode of "The Bachelor: The Greatest Seasons — Ever!" looks back at Alex Michel’s inaugural season of "The Bachelor" and Trista Rehn’s time as the Bachelorette.
Trista and Alex are the foundation of this storied franchise. Alex, who kicked off the series on March 25, 2002, was the first-ever Bachelor. There was the first "Bachelor" kiss, "Can I steal you?" was born, and so much more!
Alex ticked all the boxes for an eligible Bachelor. He graduated with honors from Harvard, got his MBA from Stanford, and was a successful management consultant in San Francisco. While at Harvard, he played varsity water polo and competed on their varsity swimming team. The one thing missing from his life was a woman.
Trista made her debut on his season and immediately became a front-runner for his affection. He wooed her family on Hometown Dates and, despite getting sick in Hawaii on their "exotic dates," they grew closer as a couple. She made it to the final two, but Alex chose Amanda Marsh instead.
Trista’s heartbreak turned around when she handed out roses on Season 1 of "The Bachelorette," which began airing January 8, 2003. Trista represents the first Bachelorette and the first "Bachelor" franchise wedding!
She met and fell in love with the handsome firefighter Ryan Sutter, who hailed from Colorado. Bob Guiney, who appeared on her season, would go on to become the Bachelor. At the end of the season, Ryan proposed, and then they wed December 6, 2003, in Rancho Mirage, California. Trista and Ryan even had their own televised wedding special.
Trista and Ryan have two kids, Maxwell and Blakesley.
