Here's When Matt James' Season of 'The Bachelor' Begins
2021 is already looking up, especially because the year kicks off with a new season of "The Bachelor!"
This year we have Tayshia Tuesdays, but with Matt James, it’ll be Matt Mondays. That’s right, Bachelor Nation: "The Bachelor" returns to Monday evenings next year! Matt makes his debut as Bachelor Monday, January 4, 2021, at 8 p.m. on ABC.
The show announced the news in a short video published to social media on Tuesday. In it, a red envelope opens and out pops a photo of Matt holding a rose and a card that reads, "Let's keep the New Year's party going. Monday Jan 4 it's a date!"

Matt’s journey for love begins about seven months after he was announced as the new Bachelor. He makes history as the first Black Bachelor in franchise history, which comes on the heels of Tayshia Adams' debut as Bachelorette.
He said on "Good Morning America" on June 12 when he was revealed as the choice, "I’m just going to lean into myself and how my mom raised me and hopefully when people invite me into their homes on Monday night they’re going to see that I’m not much different from them and they see that diverse love stories are beautiful."
Matt remained in Florida for most of quarantine alongside his best friend Tyler Cameron, and the two seemed to spend a lot of time getting fit and ready for Matt’s big moment.

In June, Tyler spoke with Chris Harrison on "The Bachelor: The Greatest Seasons — Ever!" and shared his predictions for the type of woman who will win Matt over. He said, "You’re going to look for someone who resembles his mother. His mother is one of the sweetest ladies: very lovely, very willing to help and serve others in the community, and someone that’s ready to get on the ground and change the world."
A few weeks later, he shared his main tidbit of advice for his best friend with "E! News," saying, "I told him to just to be himself. 'Cause that’s what everyone loves. They all love Matt for who he is."
