'Bachelor' Stylist Cary Fetman Breaks Down Matt James' Sharp Look from Night 1
Hey there, 007! Thanks to longtime “Bachelor” stylist Cary Fetman, Matt James looked ready to star in the next James Bond film during Monday night’s landmark Season 25 premiere.
Cary headed over to Instagram on Tuesday to break down the handsome lead’s sharp ensemble that he wore to meet the 32 women vying for his heart. According to the TV wardrobe guru, Matt was able to “come out shining like a new #JamesBond” in a black velvet Reiss jacket with matching tuxedo pants.
Underneath, Matt slipped into a white Eton tuxedo shirt accompanied by a black Tom Ford bow tie. On his feet, the commercial real estate broker rocked patent tuxedo shoes from To Boot New York. Cary accessorized Matt’s formal getup with a sleek Movado watch.

Earlier in the episode, Matt was seen in an array of casual outfits while enjoying his surroundings in Pennsylvania, where the entirety of his season was filmed at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort. Among other standout pieces, Matt sported blue and pink Golden Goose sneakers for biking, Rag & Bone jeans for fly-fishing, a blue Theory jacket for skateboarding, and a cocoa-colored suede vest from Ralph Lauren while on a hike.

In a recent interview with Insider, Cary opened up about his approach to styling Matt — and revealed that Bachelor Nation should anticipate a parade of turtlenecks as the 29-year-old hunk's search for love continues. “Every time that there’s a chance that turtlenecks are in, I use it,” he said. “This season [the fans] better get used to it, because there’s a lot of them.”
Cary went on to say that Matt’s onscreen looks were often a collaboration. “His style and mine had to be kind of melded. I had to learn. He let go a little also,” he told the publication. “The one thing we never did agree on was pant length or how tight a pair of pants can be made.”
Cary added that Matt liked his pants “way, way shorter than should be done. And way, way tighter than should be done.”
However, the costumer — who has been working with the Bachelor franchise for more than a decade — emphasized that what matters most is how the Bachelor or Bachelorette feels when they look in the mirror.
“That’s the key for me for everybody,” Cary said. “It’s not what I want, it’s, ‘What do you feel good in?’ And when you’re going in front of a camera or trying to meet the love of your life — I need you to feel good about yourself.”
“The Bachelor” airs Mondays on ABC at 8 p.m.
