Clare Crawley Confirms Split from Dale Moss: 'This Is Not What I Expected or Hoped For'
Clare Crawley took to Instagram on Thursday to confirm her split from Dale Moss after the former “Bachelorette” contestant spoke out about their breakup earlier this week.
“I was made aware of a ‘mutual’ statement at the same time you all were, so I’ve needed some time to really digest this,” Clare wrote via Instagram. “Speaking for myself, my intentions with this relationship have always been very clear, so the truth is I am crushed. This was not what I expected or hoped for and am still trying to process this.”
The Sacramento, California, native went on to list the challenges that she’s faced in recent times. “2020 was one hell of a year, with COVID, battling severe anxiety post-show, balancing a public new relationship, all while slowly losing my mother [to Alzheimer’s],” she continued. “It hasn’t been ideal circumstances, but that is life right.”
Now, Clare is “looking forward to the light at the end of the tunnel,” she said.
“Our relationship was not perfect, but I can say that I was genuinely invested with all of my heart,” she wrote. “I may not have all the answers, but I do know this — I will continue to show up, stand by my word, and be committed to love.”
Clare first joined Bachelor Nation in 2014 when she competed for Juan Pablo Galavis’ heart on Season 18 of “The Bachelor.” She later appeared on “Bachelor in Paradise” and “Bachelor Winter Games” before leading the first portion of Season 16 of “The Bachelorette” in 2020. Her time on the show was cut short, as she quickly fell in love with Dale, who proposed to her after just two weeks of filming. (Tayshia Adams later stepped in for Clare when she left the show with a fiancé.)
Despite the dissolution of her engagement to Dale, Clare has remained positive by focusing on spending time with family in California. (Meanwhile, Dale remains in New York City, where the retired NFL player lives and works as a model and host.)
Last week, Clare had an “emotional” reunion with her mom, Lilia, after an extended period apart due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
“I’m so thankful to be able to see my mom in person now,” the hairstylist wrote alongside a photo showing her hand intertwined with her mother’s. “I get so emotional because this time is precious and I know means everything to both of us, especially as her mind is slipping away and her body is getting weaker.”
She added, “I try and sing and laugh to add a little sunshine to her day, even if it’s only for the 20 minutes they allow. I love it,” Clare continued in her post. “She has good days and bad, just like we all do. Well today I couldn’t hide my hard day. A mother always knows. Without saying a word, she reached in her pocket and pulled out this tissue and just squeezed my hand.”
