Sarah Herron Opens Up About Her Decision to Freeze Eggs Amid Fertility Struggles
Sarah Herron stopped by “Bachelor Happy Hour” and spoke with Becca Kufrin and guest co-host Catherine Lowe about her decision to freeze her eggs amid fertility struggles.
“I’m so excited and nervous and don’t know what to expect,” said the Bachelor Nation star, who is hoping to welcome a child in the near future with fiancé Dylan Brown.
“I haven’t started the medications,” Sarah continued, explaining that there is preparation involved before she begins the process this week with Dr. Aimee Eyvazzadeh in San Ramon, California. (Becca noted that she also turned to Dr. Eyvazzadeh when freezing her own eggs in 2020.)
“I’m a little nervous simply because I was doing some hormone treatment before,” said Sarah, who previously took the fertility drug Letrozole after being diagnosed with a diminished ovarian reserve (DOR).
“I also struggle with some mental health that I’m on medications for,” the Colorado resident elaborated. “So, there’s just a little bit of hesitation. Is it going to be really intense for me emotionally, mentally, physically? I think I’m just, like, ‘What’s this going to do to my brain?’ So, I’m a little nervous about all that.”
Sarah went on to say that she is grateful to have a “great support system” as she navigates her journey to motherhood. “I’m very fortunate to have support around me. I have an amazing partner and I go to therapy,” she said. “So, I feel prepared.”
Elsewhere, the SheLift founder said that she is staying positive despite potential challenges.
“When you’re dealing with infertility, it really is such a roller coaster. Every time you start to go up, then you kind of inevitably crash. You just kind of get used to that cycle, unfortunately,” she said. “I’m very hopeful. I’m very optimistic. I’m also trying to stay realistic because I know it’s a journey. Obviously, I’m going to hope for the best on the first try but, like I said, I feel in very good hands with Dr. Aimee that if we have to go several rounds, she’ll get us there. We’ll get our baby eventually.”
