‘Talking It Out’: Kendall Long Reveals Why She Joined ‘Paradise,’ Plus: She Spills on Her Split with Joe
Bachelor Nation fan favorite Kendall Long stopped by “Talking It Out” to discuss all things “Bachelor In Paradise.” She revealed why she decided to hit the beach for a second time and shared more details about her split with Joe Amabile.
Fans got to know Kendall during Season 22 of “The Bachelor.” She went on to find love with Joe on Season 5 of “Bachelor in Paradise,” but the couple announced in early 2020 that they’d be going their separate ways after nearly two years together.
Kendall and Joe are both now back on the beach, but this time as exes. Fans were watching Joe’s love story with Serena Pitt unfold when Kendall joined “Paradise.”

Long opened up to Bryan Abasolo and Mike Johnson on “Talking It Out” about why she decided to join “BIP” again. She noted that at first she didn’t think she’d want to head to “Paradise” if Joe was there, but over time she realized she needed closure from their relationship.
“I decided to go literally last minute, and I don’t know exactly why, but I felt like something wasn’t done,” she revealed. “I needed some form of closure, some form of conversation with him. We hadn’t really spoken or communicated in a while.”
The Bachelor Nation star continued, “I’m not the kind of person who can either love someone or not. It’s more like there’s layers of love, and I’ve always had a lot of love for Joe. And it just never really felt like I could say, ‘Okay, I can step away from this and be okay with never having a conversation again.’”
Kendall made it clear that it was never her intention to get in the way of Joe’s relationship with Serena. It’s just that she and Joe had some unfinished business to discuss.
As we saw in “Paradise,” Long explained that they mainly broke up because of “logistics.” Joe wanted to settle down in Chicago, while she wanted to be in Los Angeles, and both wanted to be close to their families and communities.
Even when they broke up, Kendall said, she “still really loved and cared about him and was still trying to figure out if there was a world where it could work.”
While going to “Paradise” was difficult for her and for Joe — for different reasons — she said she was open to finding love with someone else once she got some closure.
Even though she was interested in Ivan Hall romantically and they really hit it off, Kendall revealed that trying to date someone else with Joe there proved too difficult.
At the end of the day, though, Kendall said she is grateful for the experience and learned a lot about her own strength. She told Bryan and Mike that while “reliving” a lot of the pain from their breakup was “freaking hard,” she’s glad she went and “feels like she got answers.”
