Desiree Hartsock Siegfried Shares Tips on How to Narrow Down Your Wedding Guest List
Due to the wedding postponements and cancellations from 2020 and 2021, 2022 is set to see the most weddings in the United States in one year since 1984.
And if you’re one of the 2.4 million couples getting married this year, former Bachelorette and wedding dress designer Desiree Hartsock Siegfried has some tips for you!
Since we are still in a pandemic amid this historically busy wedding year, you may be thinking about cutting back on your guest list, but that can be a daunting task for couples.
Where do you draw the line? And who does or doesn’t make the cut?
According to Desiree, there are three easy ways to trim down your list.
The former Bachelorette took to Instagram and told couples in the wedding planning process to “BOOKMARK this post & save for wedding planning.”

Desiree’s three tips are as follows:
• ONLY invite those nearest & dearest to you. These are family and friends you talk to on a daily basis that you just could not imagine your life without. You might think every sorority sister must be invited but are you really close to them?
• Eliminate plus ones from guests who aren’t married, engaged or likely to be engaged in the next few months. It’s likely going to cost $150+ per person, so think about that if you’re deciding if someone can have a plus one. Save your budget and your time feeling ‘bad’. Your day, Your way!
• Timeline Talk - If you haven’t spoken to the person in over a year, you can consider it ok to not invite them. I’m sorry but they don’t need an invite.
Des added that she hopes these tips help you narrow down your guest list when you need to, and fans took to the comments to thank her for her helpful advice.
One person wrote that these are “such good tips,” and another said, “I totally agree with you Desiree thank you!”
Others shared additional ideas, like limiting the number of kids invited or not feeling like you need to invite all of your parents’ friends because it’s your day!
So if you’re in a bind and crunching numbers trying to plan your wedding, hopefully Desiree’s advice can help!
