This Week in Bachelor Nation History: Franchise 'Superfans' Take Part in 'Bachelor Pad' Season 3
Raise your hand if you remember the epic premiere of “Bachelor Pad” Season 3!
This week marks nine years since the show came back for its third and final installment with a twist. As OG members of Bachelor Nation will recall, five “superfans” — who were found through an open casting call — helped kick off the romance-infused game show, which convened memorable and controversial characters from the franchise.
The fans joined in to spice things up and compete for love and money against veteran Bachelors and Bachelorettes. The group ultimately headed to the Bachelor Mansion to live and scheme their way to winning $250,000 — and maybe a lasting relationship.
Season 3 of “Bachelor Pad” — the predecessor to “Bachelor in Paradise” — saw alums and lucky fans square off in head-to-head challenges to compete for immunity and the opportunity to go on dates with contestants of their choice. The winner of each challenge then granted immunity to one of his or her dates via the presentation of a rose.
At the end of each episode, the contestants voted among themselves — the men voted off a woman and vice versa — to determine which participants would be eliminated from the competition.
To refresh your memory even further, the first group challenge of Season 3 — called “Falling for Love” — featured men and women coupling up and trying to keep each other from falling out of quickly tilting hearts that were hoisted high off the ground.
While “superfans” Brittany Taltos and David Mallet came out victorious in the “Falling for Love” challenge, Nick Peterson — who appeared on Ashley Hebert’s Season 7 of “The Bachelorette” — won the entire show and shockingly decided not to split his financial prize with partner Rachel Truehart.
